The Island Surge have climbed into a tie for first-place with the Meadow Ridge Moose, after winning two of three games on the Mainland in Week 3.
After opening the season with two wins on home ice, the Surge began their road trip Friday with a 4-3 loss to the Fraser Valley Jets at the Cloverdale Arena.
Kelsey Firkus, Silvia Traversa, Kirsten Martin and Natasha Steblin scored once each for Fraser Valley, with Leah Lanthier netting all three goals for the Island.
The Surge blew a three-goal lead Saturday night at Planet – Ice Coquitlam, but recovered for their third win of the season. Alexandra Hughes, Stasha Fehr and Eastlyn Bellamy gave the visitors a 3-0 lead over the South Fraser TNT after one period of play.
The TNT got two goals from Alysha Choy and one from Michelle Ziegler to tie the game midway through the third period.
The Island recovered, getting a winning goal from Feher and an insurance tally from Eilidh Macdonald to hand the TNT their first loss of the season.
Sunday morning at Langley Twin Rinks, the Surge got goals from Lanthier and Hughes, and a 10-save shutout from Sarah Dawson for a 2-0 victory over the Surrey Wildcats. Jadeyn Kastning stopped 55 of 57 shots in the Surrey net.
The 4-1-0 (win-lost-tied) Surge are tied with the 4-0-0 Moose for first place in the SCWHL after three weeks of play.
