South Coast Women's Hockey League
After 550-plus days, SCWHL to resume play

Roughly 19 months after its last regular season game, the South Coast Women’s Hockey League will resume play.

The SCWHL 2021-22 regular season schedule begins on Thursday, Sept 30 when the South Fraser TNT visit the North Shore Rebels at Moody Park Arena in New Westminster.

The game will take place 571 days after the Richmond Devils defeated the Fraser Valley Jets 1-0 on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at the Richmond Ice Centre in the last game before the COVID-19 pandemic cancelled the rest of the 2019-20 season and the entire 2020-21 campaign.

Eight teams participated in the 2019-20 season, but only six will be playing in 2021-22. The TWU Spartans have departed to play at the U Sports level, while the Island Surge of Victoria will sit out one season having set a return to play goal for the 2022-23 season.

In a 2021-22 “Re-Set Season” the Kamloops Vibe will play a 20-game schedule, facing-off four times against each of the five Lower Mainland teams.

The remaining five teams will play a 24-game season, with each team playing five games against their four Lower Mainland rivals in addition to their four games against Kamloops.

All six teams will qualify for the postseason – The SCWHL Provincial Championship Tournament tentatively scheduled for March 25-27, 2022 in Hope, BC.
