The Richmond Devils continued their surprising run at the EKanite Consulting/SCWHL Provincial Championship tournament, earning a surprising 2-1 overtime victory over the Kamloops Vibe in the first of two semifinal games Saturday night at the Hope and District Arena.

Ashley Specht netted the winning goal for the sixth-seed Devils 13 minutes into extra time.

After a scoreless first 40 minutes, Richmond took a 1-0 lead in the first minute of the third period when Emily Costales scored just 41 seconds into the session. Kamloops drew even with four minutes to play on a goal by Lisa Campeau.

Both goaltenders were busy over the 73 minutes of play, with Jenne Ehling of the Devils making 31 saves and Ashley Fisher stopping 34 shots.

The Devils will seek a first-ever provincial championship against the North Shore Rebels, a team which qualified for their first-ever provincial championship final with a 2-0 win over the Meadow Ridge Moose.

North Shore tallied twice in the second period on goals by Justine Johnson and Cassidy Bell. Cassidy Hendricks turned aside HH shots for the shutout.

The Kamloops Vibe and Meadow Ridge Moose play at 10 a.m. in a third-place game. The Richmond Devils and North Shore Rebels face-off in the championship game at 12:15 p.m.
