TNT, Rebels face-off in season opener

The South Fraser TNT and North Shore Rebels will mark the return of the South Coast Women's Hockey League with a head-to-head meeting on Thursday, Sept. 30, which seems only fitting.

When the COVID pandemic cancelled the conclusion of the 2019-20 season with one week remaining, the fifth-place TNT were one point ahead of the sixth-place Rebels, with South Fraser to host North Shore in the season finale for both teams.

The TNT had a win and a tie in two previous outings against North Shore. outscoring the Rebels 4-1.

Eighteen months later, the two teams face-off in the first game of the 2021-22 season at 8:45 pm at Moody Park Arena in New Westminster.

The Fraser Valley Jets and Meadow Ridge Moose clash in the second game of the opening week of the SSCWHL season, with both teams renewing a battle that was never decided in 2019-20. The first-place Jets were one point ahead of the Moose when the season was cancelled.

The two teams play their first regular season games wince then against each other Saturday, Oct. 2 at the Langley Sportsplex at 6 pm.

The two rivals split two regular season games in the 2019-20 season, each scoring seven goals while winning once and losing once.
