A hat trick from Melanie Jue powered the Fraser Valley Jets into the final at the Tourism Hope / SCWHL Provincial Championship Tournament in Hope.
Jue completed her hat trick in Saturday night’s clash with the Richmond Devils, breaking a 2-2 tie and lifting the Jets to a 3-2 win in the first of two semi-final games at the Hope and District Arena.
Emily Chau and Luara Horwood netted the goals for the Devils.
Fraser Valley advances to the championship game Sunday afternoon at 12:15, facing off against the North Shore Rebels, the defending BC champions.
The Rebels topped the Meadow Ridge Moose 4-1 on the second semi-final of the night. Jess Sibley netted a pair of goals, with Cassidy Bell and Ashley Lougheed adding one each. Jade Zamprogno scored the Meadow Ridge on the powerplay with two minutes remaining in the game.
Richmond will play the Moose for third place at 10 a.m. Sunday morning, in a rematch of their final round robin game which ended in a 2-2 tie Saturday morning.
Sunday is also a rematch. The Rebels defeated Fraser Valley 3-2 Friday evening, and the two rivals will now play for a provincial championship Sunday afternoon at 12:15 p.m.
Both games Sunday are available on livestream, a link to the broadcast is here.
