A three-goal third period powered the Meadow Ridge Moose to a 5-2 win Saturday evening at the Langley Sportsplex and a first-place standing after Week One.
Madeleine Ericsson paced the Moose with a pair of goals. Emily Jude with one goal and an assist and Paige Smith with two helpers each had a pair of points. Natalie Richardson and Jessie Sangha scored once each for the winners.
Melanie Jue scored once and assisted on the other Jets goal tallied by Amanda Christie. Chantal Despiegelaere assisted on both Fraser Valley goals.
Jessica Anderson was the winning goalie, making 30 saves on 32 shots.
In the first game of the regular season Thursday at Moody Park in New Westminster, goalie Melinda Choy of the South Fraser TNT made 18 saves and North Shore Rebels netminder Kira Richardson stopped 17 shots in a 1-1 tie.
After two scoreless periods, Jasmine Manhas of the Rebels opened the scoring om the powerplay midway through the third period. Tiffany Chiu netted the tying goal for the TNT with 2:15 to play.
