Week 6: Vibe, Moose tied for first

The Kamloops Vibe have moved alongside the Meadow Ridge Moose atop the SCWHL standings as a result of games played in Week 6.
The Meadow Ridge Moose improved to 7-0-1 (win-loss-tie) Friday night, starting the month of November off with a 2-0 win over the South Fraser TNT.
The Moose outshot South Fraser 50-24, but after  two scoreless periods, needed a shorthanded goal by Ashley Long two minutes into the third frame to get the win. Kacey Lepp iced the game with an empty-net goal with 12 seconds left in regulation.
Morgan Tierney was a standout in the TNT goal, making 47 saves on 48 shots, while Moose netminder Sabrina Matthias stopped 24 shots to earn her second shutout of the season.
The Kamloops Vibe took three of a possible four points from a two-game series at home against the Richmond Devils. Both games were played on the Olympic Rink at McArthur Island.
Stefanie Costales of the Devils and Jenna Ormondy of Kamloops traded goals in the first 30 minutes of play, then the two sides battled through a scoreless third period in a 1-1 draw Saturday night.
Both goaltenders were near flawless, as Jenna Ehling of the Devils made 22 saves and the Vibe’s Ashley Fisher blocked 27 shots.
In Sunday’s rematch, Alyssa Reid in the first period and Melinda Smith in the second gave Kamloops a 2-0 advantage after two periods. Sarah Botter, Jaclyn Frilund and Marjorie Boisvert scored goals three minutes apart midway through the third period to put the game out of reach for a 5-1 win.
Fisher stopped 11 shots in the Kamloops goal, earning her first shutout of the season as the Vibe matched the 7-0-1 record of the Moose.
The only other game in Week 6 saw the Fraser Valley Jets improve to 5-3-0 on the season with a 5-2 victory over the TWU Spartans. Fraser Valley slipped past the 4-3-1 TNT for third place in the SCWHL standings.
Jets defender Natasha Steblin, a second-team all-star last season, netted a pair of goals for Fraser Valley. Lindsay DiPietro, last season’s scoring champion and Most Outstanding Player, added a goal and two assists.
Sylvia Traversa and Chelsea Wilson also scored for the Jets, with Ariana Castillo contributing with three assists.
Megan Taylor and Jess Sibley were the goal scorers for TWU.
