A sweep of two home games against the North Shore Rebels has lifted the Kamloops Vibe to within a point of first place.
The Vibe defeated the Rebels
3-1 and
4-1 in Week 5. Saturday night at McArthur Island, Kamloops got goals from Jaclyn Frilund, Rochelle Smith and Alyssa Reid, and outshot North Shore 25-13.
Ashley Fisher made 12 saves, and was just seven seconds away from a shutout when Elisa Pharoan scored a late goal for the Rebels.
Sunday morning at Memorial Arena, Kamloops got a pair of goals from Smith, and one each from Frilund and Catriona Young. Bianca Cuevas scored the lone goal for the Rebels with just four minutes remaining in regulation time.
The Meadow Ridge Moose stayed one point ahead of the Vibe with a
6-0 victory Saturday evening over the TWU Spartans at the Langley Events Centre.
Payge Pena and Madeline Cockrill led the Moose offence, netting two goals each. Pena added three assists, and Cockrill had a pair of helpers.
Jade Werger and Emily Jude added a goal each for Meadow Ridge, which led 2-0 and 5-0 at the period breaks.
The Fraser Valley Jets moved to within a point of the third-place South Fraser TNT,
edging the TNT 3-1 Saturday evening in Richmond.
Kelsea Trottier had a goal and an assist for the Jets, with Lindsay DiPietro netting the winning goal midway through the second period and Chelsea Wilson scoring into the empty net with 36 seconds to play.
Friday’s game in Richmond between the Richmond Devils and the Moose was postponed due to a power outage at the arena. A makeup date has yet to be determined.
Sara Carlisle scored the lone goal for the TNT, who were forced to use skater Carlyn Shimizu in goal. Shimizu made 28 saves on 30 shots by the Jets.
