A split of two games against the South Fraser TNT at the Memorial Arena in Kamloops has kept the Kamloops Vibe atop the standings after games played in Week 17.
The results left the Vibe with a 12-5-3 record, three points up on both the Meadow Ridge Moose and North Shore Rebels, and four ahead of the TNT. Both Kamloops and the TNT have six games remaining in the regular season.
The Vibe doubled the TNT 4-2 Saturday night, erasing a 2-0 second period deficit with four consecutive goals over the final 25 minutes of play. Taralynn Suzuki and Michelle Ziegler staked South Fraser to their lead, scoring three minutes apart early in the second period.
Kathleen Cahoon, Rochelle Smith, Jenna Ormondy and Allison Aie tallied for Kamloops in the come-from-behind victory.
Sunday morning, the TNT posted a convincing 4-1 victory, with Ziegler, Alisha Choy, Shea Weighill and Haleigh Callison netting the goals. Katy Thorne replied for Kamloops.
The North Shore Rebels earned three points from a pair of games for the second consecutive week to move into a tie with the Moose for second place.
The Rebels began their weekend with a 4-4 tie against the Richmond Devils Saturday night at the Richmond Ice Centre. Emily Costales netted the tying goal for Richmond as time expired. Sabrina Wong, Ivana Bilic and Nicole Lim netted the other goals for the Devis.
Danika Carter with a pair, Nicole Pederson and Jasmone Manhas scored for North Shore.
Sunday night at Planet Ice – Coquitlam, the Rebels cruised to a 5-2 victory over the Burnaby Mountain Capitals.
Nicole Charlton and Elexa Pakozdy each netted two goals for North Shore, with Cassidy Bell adding a single. Burnaby responded with tallied from Kayla White and Molly Cho.
The Fraser Valley Jets maintained their hold on fifth place in the league standings with a 3-2 win over the Devils Sunday afternoon at Planet Ice – Delta.
Lindsay DiPietro tallied twice for Fraser Valley, with Jackie Lang adding a goal and one assist. Wong and Deanna Mohr were the goal scorers for the Devils.
