First Star: Steph Strymecki (South Fraser TNT)
Five points in two wins over the Island Surge on Vancouver Island not only helped her team into a tie for first place, Steph Strymecki of the South Fraser TNT is now the league’s leading scorer.
Strymecki had a goal and an assist in a 6-2 victory Saturday night, then tallied three times in Sunday’s 5-3 win.
She now leads the SCWHL scoring race with six goals and three assists in six games played.
Second Star: Cassidy Hendricks (North Shore Rebels)
Cassidy Hendricks frustrated the defending provincial champions Sunday at Planet Ice - Delta, stopping 62 of 63 shots to lead her North Shore Rebels to a 2-1 win over the Fraser Valley Jets.
Hendricks, last season’s SCWHL Outstanding Goaltender, is fourth among netminders this season with a .944 save percentage.
Third Star: Ashley Long (Meadow Ridge Moose)
Scoring the game-winning goal on the powerplay, netting one at even strength and completing the hat trick with a shorthanded tally, Ashley Long paced the Meadow Ridge Moose to a 5-0 win over the TWU Spartans Friday night at the Langley Sportsplex.
Long, in her first season with the Moose after four seasons with TWU, is tied for the SCWHL goal scoring lead with six in two games.
