Team White blanks Team Black


Team White posted a rare shutout win in the fifth annual South Coast Women’s Hockey League All-Star Game, blanking Team Black 5-0 Saturday afternoon at the Richmond Ice Centre.

Team White led 1-0 and 3-0 at the period breaks, and were led by the two-goal, two-assist performance from Taralynn Suzuki of the South Fraser TNT. Lindsay DiPietro of the Fraser Valley Jets also netted a pair of goals, adding one assist and earning her team’s Offensive Player of the Game award.

Shea Weighill of the Meadow Ridge Moose scored the game-winning goal, giving Team White a 1-0 lead with 35 seconds remaining in the first period.

Megan Buchanan of the Island Surge started the game in goal for Team White, making 15 saves. Stacey Wilson played the second half of the contest, turning aside 18 shots.

Kamloops Vibe defender Sarah Botter was Team White’s Defensive Player of the Game.

For Team Black, Payge Pena of the Moose was the Offensive Player of the Game, while May Claire Geneau of the Island Surge was chosen as the Defensive Player of the Game.
